There are 6 internship positions available at the NPP Leibstadt. A good knowledge of the German language is an asset, but not a necessary condition (exept for topic 4 where German is required). The fields are:

Technical Safety Analysis:

1. Assistance in the execution of safety analyses: Evaluation of an analysis related tot he project YUMOD (fast start-up of both coolant circulation pumps in the BWR of KKL) using the thermal hydraulic code TRACE by graphical representation of the results and documentation

2. Assistance in the execution of safety analyses: Utilization of results of a numerical analysis carried out with the code system TRACE/FALCON to determine the cladding temperature, description of the approach and evaluation of the results

Transient analysis:

3. Assistance in the evaluation of process data with the software package OSI-PI: Evaluation of the feed water check valves and of the SCRAM test (begin and end of main maintenance outage), description of the approach and evaluation of the results

Design documentation:

4. Überarbeitung der Grundlagen und Belastungen in der Erdbeben DBD (Design Basis Dokumentation).
Attention: This topic is only for students with very good German knowledge!

5. Assistance in a Study related to knowledge transfer and knowledge acquisition for the safety report (SAR): Identification of options for an improvement of the user-friendliness of the safety report, evaluation of the options, effort-benefit ratio.

Processes (TQM):

6. Process Accident Analysis: Identification of necessary steps for the execution of an accident analysis (radiological and technological aspects) – elaboration of a process diagram
